Have you checked out The Original Skin?
The Original Skin is a clothing label based in London, England. Their current line contains four designs all made of 100% cotton – this octopus design is my favorite!
How many people are on The Original Skin team and how did you get started?
The Original Skin Team was born in London England, there are two people within our creative team that work tirelessly on new designs and concepts that fit with the themes of our brand.
What are some of your favorite apparel/designer brands?
With regards to favourite designers and fashion houses, we really do look for a particular type of philosophy in the brands we like, from grass routes brands that work with independent designers to global fashion houses that aim to promote a cause. The Original Skin is attempting to position itself between both of these scales. For us, I think it would be a little too linear to consider one favourite brand or apparel.
Are you trying to send a message along with your designs such as Rosa Parks? How do you think the message will be taken?
Our clothing designs are most definitely trying to convey meaning, Our Rosa Parks design for instance is a contemporary reminder of the civil right struggles of the past and a insight into the continued struggles that are faced today (with our philosophical quote that is held by Rosa). In respect to how the messages of our range to be taken, we are happy that are philosophy is as bold of our designs – for The Original skin, our messages are imperative, and from feedback from our customers, press and PR, we feel that they are taken with great respect in what they try to promote.
What does the future hold for you? What designs are you looking forward to creating?
The Original Skin is currently working to include a new season of designs very soon. Our current range, Nostalgia is part of our first online collection and the black and white contrast is symbolic of the struggles of the past. Our future ranges will again symbolise meaning and will feature splashes of bold colour that contrast against some very exciting designs that we hope to share with you very soon!
